Bruno Ganz...

I have only recently learned of the passing of the Swiss Actor, Bruno Ganz. I will never forget taking our Son, who was at school at the time, to see Der Untergang, (Downfall), at the pictures; and being absolutely blown away by Ganz' colossal performance in the role of Adolf Hitler during his last days in the bunker beneath Berlin. If ever an Actor deserved to receive an Oscar, it was Ganz, for his part in this film; and I may add, that there were several others in Downfall who also gave magnificent performances.
Whilst he was not well known beyond the German speaking world, there is little doubt in my mind that we have lost a truly remarkable talent.
